About the 7th International Ethics Summit
The main theme of the Ethics Summit 2017 was “As Waters Recede”.
In a smaller world with the globalization and technological progress, the perception of business processes has also changed. Some companies could not catch up with the impact of globalization on the developments of countries, regions, and even organizations. While the business world experienced increases in productivity and quality, at the same time, ethical crises emerged. Storms which were experienced in some outstanding companies of the world, have grown into a tornado that could affect the global economy. Consequently, companies have increased their precautions and their awareness towards potential risks.
This year, in the seventh year of the Ethics Summit, together with experienced business leaders around the world, it has been discussed as to what needs to be done as life goes on to the business as usual phase following the ethical crises experienced by several global companies. Alongside discussing the efforts for preventing the recurrence of ethical crisis and managing the process of post-crises, it was also examined the profile of a fraudster ‘who caused the storm’.
Additionally, it was discussed about the post-crises ethical policy reviews, communication and reputation management processes with some valuable examples, and finally it was questioned to find out how we can establish a business world where the compliance is dominant in all extents.
This year’s Summit was chaired by Monty Raphael QC as the two previous years. Prof. Dr. Nikos Passas from Northeastern University and Prof. Dr. Sevil Atasoy from Üsküdar University have given their keynotes. The event also hosted a Federal Prosecutor, Ms. Jerusa Burmann Viecili, from Curritiba Car Wash Operation who shared her insights and experiences with the audience.
The event was closed around a main panel called Compliance 360 in which different stakeholders point of view on compliance and its importance in the business world were discussed with the panelist.
