Sanmar Denizcilik Makina ve Ticaret A.Ş.

For forty-seven years, Sanmar has been manufacturing and supplying tugs to many countries around the world. The company builds vessels at its purpose-built, state-of-the-art Altinova and Tuzla shipyards, located in the heart of Turkey’s shipbuilding industry. In addition, with its young fleet, trained and experienced team, it provides tugboat and pilotage services in various ports and coastlines of Turkey. 

Always at the forefront of technological development and innovation, Sanmar received consultancy services from Cerebra for the structuring of processes and internal controls prior to the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) “Digital Transformation Project” in 2019.  

Under the leadership of Cerebra, we reviewed our existing business processes, analysed the design and effectiveness of existing controls using a risk-based approach, and designed the control structure to be targeted by the ERP transition. We prepared workflows and procedures for this new structure and provided documentation services for processes and internal controls. Authorisation matrices were created in accordance with the principle of segregation of duties. We were supported in the development of financial reporting infrastructures in the ERP system. 

As our process consultant, Cerebra acted as a bridge between our employees and the ERP service provider to ensure a proper implementation and transition between our employees and the ERP service provider in terms of end-to-end design of processes in ERP and the design of internal controls in accordance with the procedures. 

In the light of all this information, we have experienced a successful ERP transition process as of 2020.  Since 2020, we have been managing our business processes in an integrated structure, and as a result, our business performance has increased. We have become able to make quick decisions by managing our processes more effectively and efficiently.
